April 28, 2009From Alex DeLeon's blog: so i wanted to get this up last week…but i was trying to...![]() so i wanted to get this up last week…but i was trying to hook you all up! i have some demos of this song, and another version, but it’s taking some time to get cleared by everyone. the last thing i want is to get sued…however…hopefully by next week i’ll have something to post. i always post about the song meanings etc, but i would love for you to hear the song being born and what it was like as a little infant :) i just have one question for you guys… can you keep a secret?
eyes are amazing if you think about it. the fact that what the common eyes see are just a series of reflections through the most thin pieces of our body is fascinating. but what is behind the eye? not literally..but what goes on that we don’t see? eyes do not see all. they don’t even see half of it. we live in a world of secrecy, debate, and speculation, and us humans are no different. the words of this song, tell the story of a secret relationship. one that if the secret were to get out, a world, a heart, and a love could be destroyed. we say we’re happy..but are we really happy? people go quite the distance when they see something that they want, whether they are single or not. if there’s a wall in their way, they’ll climb it…if there’s an ocean, they’ll swim across. it’s human tendency and instinct to follow their heart..but it can be deadly and extremely hurtful to someone else. the song opens with the line “it’s true that i’m a silver shadow and you are always on my mind.” it sets the setting that the man is extrmemely secretive, and he is putting his feelings for a beautiful stranger on the table. He tells the beautiful young lady that her “secret is safe” and “no one has to know i’m your getaway.” this story is one of lust. one of extreme temptation. the man is being extremely forceful and inviting with his words. at first..it seems like the story is about an affair. a secret affair, where someone’s heart is being shattered into a thousand pieces..but is that what the song is really about? i have always looked at this song at being about choices. almost like the story of adam and eve and the forbidden fruit. though the man is extremely attractive to the girl, guilt is taking overher mind causing her body, mind, and heart to be in a severe and dark battle with one another. you see, in the song..i never give an ending. he tells her “soon we’ll head to a place where i’ll prove i’m all you want and more,” but does she go? does she accept the invitation? the truth is…there is no ending. the two are left with the decision, and the decision they make could have a HUGE effect on alot more than they realize. though i’m sure the night would be amazing..is it worth ruining what she’s worked so hard to build back at home? or does the attraction prove that your heart lies somewhere other than you originally thought? where do you draw the thin line between love and lust? i have actually never cheated on a girl. my heart won’t allow me to…so this song isn’t about a secret relationship of mine… just a story on how the human mind and heart battle each other about the easiest of decisions that can be the most difficult to make. we are all faced with choices every day. i guess the moral of this story is to just think things through before you do them. choices can have a nasty domino effect..and i have definately been a victim of that. do what is right..and do what YOU know is the best choice. live life freely and follow your dreams, but remember not to hurt people or destroy theirs on your way. it isn’t always worth it… or is it? that choice is yours. -alexander michael

April 15, 2009From Alex DeLeon's blog: i’m a wonder this song is truly unique. it was done in one...![]() i’m a wonder this song is truly unique. it was done in one day. me and patrick sat down…and just busted it out. patrick and i are both HUGE fans of stevie wonder and those old school soulful jams, so we went after this one with good ol’ stevie in mind. maybe the title will ring a little clearer now ;) this song was truly challenging. ever since i started singing, i always sang high and loud and belted almost everything. patrick approached me and was like “we should do something unique. show more of your low range.” so that’s what i tried to do. this song is MILES lower than any of our other songs, and it really challenged me as a vocalist. though this isn’t our most popular song, a fan favorite, or like our other songs, it is for sure a favorite of mine. it’s got a lot of personality and it is unlike any other song on our record. the song is different in many ways..not just musically. lyrically, it also has a life of it’s own. it’s extremely simple, but also confident. i’m a pretty shy guy, so to sing these confident words was a bit weird at first, but i kind of grew into them. the song is about a dead end relationship. the fireworks are gone. the champagne is flat. and it seems as if the more you kick the more you sink. it’s about being with someone that is never happy. you’ce changed for them, and have done everything they’ve asked but it’s still not good enough. you face the facts that they’ll never be happy..and you’re most likely better off alone, than suffering and being miserable all the time. my favorite lyrics are ”time out, but keep the cameras rollin.” it’s just saying that, the person you are with may not see it but you really are special. and even though they can’t see and refuse to see all of the good things you do and have to offer…doesn’t mean they don’t happen or exist. what i was trying to get across in this song..is that we should all be happy. there is NO excuse to be miserable. life is shorter than we think..and if we aren’t enjoying every breath and step we take, then we are doing something terribly wrong. don’t deal with mediocrity. we are all worth more than that. just because you are comfortable doesn’t mean you are happy and content with how things are going. don’t be afraid to take a few risks and chances. don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do better. don’t stop climbing until you reach the peak. remember what i said before… “wings were made to fly. not to hide a fragile spine.” -alexander michael *I’M A WONDER FUN FACTS* -written in less than a day -was written by patrick and i while sitting on a piano…were planning on just working on “one of those nights more” but decided to do this one from scratch instead -guitars were done last on this song. normally, vocals are the final piece put into the puzzle -named after sir stevie wonder himself -can be seen on NCAA basketball games going into time outs. (one of the coolest moments of my life was hearing this song play in a North Carolina game against oneof their biggest rivals) -Patrick does guest harmonies on the song -was the second to last song added to the record -though it seems easy, is one of the hardest songs to sing and follow as a vocalist p.s. screw bad hotel internet and tampa wireless. i’m so sorry i couldn’t get this up yesterday. it was written but the weather was horrible and no one seemed to want me to have internet. i’ll make it up to you this week by posting something really special. i love you guys. forgive me? From Cash Colligan's blog: the 'restaurant'so yes, i do have one. it’s opening in vegas and it is called johnny and harry’s. are you thinking that’s not my name? does that matter? while i was home a few of my friends got a sneek peak, maybe even a few more but i can personally tell you that i am so excited for it. it’s got a music venue, a bar, a hookah lounge, a restaurant (obviously) and pizza delivery. a lot of this opportunity came through my best friend who you may see always touring with us and selling our merch, sonny. i’m going to put up video and pictures eventually just being on the road i don’t want to give too much away… but i can tell you the grand opening will be during my off time in may/june… so party? i hope everyone is ready for the work i’m ready to show them. -cash money.

April 8, 2009From Alex DeLeon's blog: twenty. all of my life i’ve wanted to be someone. maybe...![]() twenty. all of my life i’ve wanted to be someone. maybe not a miracle maker, but perhaps a pinch of a prayer. a soul shaker. risk taker. barrier breaker. you only weigh as much as your wings can hold. is my age a number? add a handful of zeros and you have one tenth of how many miles i’ve traveled in the past month. take a zero off the end of 20, and you get the number of real friends i probably have. twenty is also the number of days until i see my family. the number twenty isn’t just my age. it’s my life. when waking up each and everyday…i open my eyes to an open sky. not literally of course, i prefer sleeping under a roof…but to a day of endless possibilities. who knows what the day holds. today could be a normal day. or today could be the day i look god in the eyes and shake his hand. growing up is a hard mirror to stare into. it’s like spilling all of your change on the floor, or like trying to ride your bike for the first time without training walls and falling down and scraping your knee. growing up is trying to remember your dreams when you wake up, and trying to determine which is reality and which is just a subculture of your inner mind. don’t we all want to be free??? as people is it more scary to die? or more scary to live? afterall..do we even know what is what and which is which? “i will scream, i will scream until all my love is heard, because underneath every voice is a mind. you can dream, you can dream, but you’ll always just wake up… until you find the strength to die. that’s when you know that you’ve been alive.” 2010 here we come…. -alexander michael p.s. “Happy Birthday. a dear friend found this online today and showed me, and i actually teared up a bit. it amazes me that little old me could provoke this and that my words and art can touch someone this much. THIS is exactly what i mean. for all of you that think that this life is getting too hard..for all of you who think you are nothing special..for all of you who think you are ordinary…i beg you to reconsider. underneath those shy eyes and deep skin is more heart than you’ll ever know. your wings are tucked tight under there. i swear to god there must be a closet somewhere holding all of your halos on a hook behind a door just waiting to be opened. i love you guys like my family. i pray someday you know how truly blessed and special you are. thank you Kelly Murphy for the kind words and for the birthday wish…i wish you a life of laughter, long roads, easy love, and few ceilings. from the bottom of my heart… thank you.

April 7, 2009From Alex DeLeon's blog: this picture has NOTHING to do with this blog, the mood, or this...![]() this picture has NOTHING to do with this blog, the mood, or this song…but oh well! thought it would be funny to post… ZZZZZ.. so i always get asked. “how do you say zzzzz!?” or “so i love zzzzz but how do you say it!?” well folks…i have good news, and i have bad news. the good news is that i have an answer! the bad news is that it’s not the one you’re looking for. i have no idea how to say it. maybe it’s a snoring sound..maybe it’s a bumblebee noise…i have no clue..HOWEVER! i do have an explanation of the song and where i was coming from when i wrote it. zzzzz was written in new york city. the first time i ever stepped foot there. nyc is a very intimidating place, but has grown to be one of my favorite places in the world. this song rings especially loud in my ears today..it’s about needing someone, and today i need someone more than you’ll ever know, everyone has that someone. the person that they can’t breathe without. the one person that GETS them, that can finish their sentence, and that makes their day without trying. but what happens when all of that goes away? how do we move on? we don’t. the song is about not being good enough and about always failing at trying to be the perfect person. i have found that one’s imperfections, are in fact their perfections. every little freckle…every toe…every goofy thing about somone are the things that people fall in love with. when those little things are taken away from you..it’s hard to breathe. those freckles turn to stars. etc etc etc the song is about getting by on your own. what happens when the one i sing to sleep every night is no longer next to me to fill the void? do i sing myself to sleep? do i not sleep at all… that girl no matter how hard i try will always be my heart and soul, or “my favorite melody.” the “get out. goodbye. get out of my life.” are kind of the words you want to say, but just can’t. as angry as you want to be for being alone, you turn and you blame yourself. i don’t even know what i’m saying right now..i’m pretty emotional and just rambling. anyways…i have that someone special. and it hurts more than a thousand knives when she’s not around… it’s hard to sleep. i get homesick alot..and i’ve gotten to know myself pretty well. the goods and the bads. being away from home..you kind of have to become your own bestfriend…you take the best from what’s at home…swallow the memories and hope there’s enough gas in the tank to get home. when you love someone…there always is. i love you guys. thanks for keeping me strong when i’m far from home. -alexander michael p.s. MY BIRTHDAY IS TOMORROW! AHHHHH! SO EXCITED!!! *ZZZZZ FUN FACTS* -written in one day and in a very tall brick building in new york while being extremely homesick -originally called “singing myself to sleep” -one of the first song recorded for the record -used to be more “synthy” but we decided to make it more piano based to give it more of a real and organic sound -really fun to play live, but we haven’t had time to play it on the past few tours and it bums me out! -produced by SAM and SLUGGO who did boys like girls, metro station, we the kings etc

(pancakes not included) This trip to cancun was really refreshing..it was really nice to get away for awhile and not have to worry about anyone or anything. it gave me a chance to breathe, and gave me a few days to just enjoy life and all of the simple things about it. what i’m trying to say is LIVE LIFE. don’t be afraid to stick your neck out there and to try something new. think outside the box a bit. those are the moments you’ll carry in your pocket until the day you die and the fat lady sings. i love you guys…i have much more from cancun that i’d love to share..i should be posting more and more blogs this week! a few surprises are coming your way…maybe a new song clip..!!! hmmmm….. ;) -Alexander Michael
